Why I started Dr. Doo

I’ve been a pharmacist for almost 20 years, and a dog lover for nearly twice that. We have two dogs of our own, and — like anyone with dogs and a yard — I’ve spent countless hours cleaning up after them. I love those dogs. I also love that my kids can play in the backyard, which means keeping it clean was never really optional.

A while back I started noticing more ticks finding their way into our yard, carried in by deer and other animals. It got me paying closer attention to just how much ends up in a yard that you don’t see until it’s a problem — and it struck me that if I was worrying about my own, plenty of my neighbors probably wished they had the time to stay on top of theirs.

So I did what a pharmacist does: I got methodical about it. Not a quick once-over, but a real routine — the whole yard, the same careful way, every single time. That’s where Dr. Doo came from.

Why “Doctor’s orders” is more than a joke

The name has a wink in it, sure. But the idea behind it is serious. A prescription only works if you follow it consistently, and a yard is no different. We show up on schedule, remove every bit of waste and take it with us, finish the job, and text you a photo so you never have to wonder whether we came. Same routine, same standard, every visit. And we’re careful to only ever promise what we can actually stand behind — no gimmicks.

“Clean yards. Doctor’s orders.” It’s a motto, but it’s also just how I work.

At the end of the day

I’m not a franchise, and there’s no call center behind me. I’m a husband, a father, and your local pharmacist — someone who wanted to build a service that genuinely helps the people who need it most. Busy families. Older neighbors. Anyone for whom this one chore has quietly become a real burden.
